Bharatpur sexual assault case: Prime accused arrested from Baramunda Bus stand

The accused in the Bharatpur sexual assault case of a woman at her flat has been arrested from Baramunda bus stand today while trying to flee out of Odisha.

Bhubaneswar: In the Bharatpur woman sexual assault case on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, police have arrested the accused today from Baramunda bus stand. The incident occurred on July 10.

The accused has been identified as Manas Ranjan Das. Police arrested him from Bhubaneswar Baramunda bus stand.

The woman was selling two flats in Patia. Manas had given her some money as an advance and that day had gone to talk about the same in her Bharatpur flat. The woman had gone to visit the site. Taking advantage of her loneliness, Manas sexually assaulted her.

The victim had lodged a complaint at Bharatpur police station in this regard. Manas Das had been absconding since then. Police arrested Manas while he was trying to escape out of the state.

According to the complaint, the victim and her father had made a deal with Manas to sell two flats in Patia area. Manas had given some money as an advance and had said that he would give the full amount at the time of registration.

But later he did not give any more money. That day he had gone to her flat to talk about the same. Finding her alone in her flat, he allegedly assaulted her, complained the woman. She lodged a complaint at Bharatpur police station.

However, there is a case against Manas in Bharatpur Khandagiri and Chandaka police stations.
