A total lunar eclipse, commonly referred to as a “Blood Moon,” which will be seen on the evening of March 13 or at dawn on March 14, depending on your location. It is an infrequent event when the Moon crosses into the darkest shadow of the Earth, or umbra, which encompasses 100% of the surface of the Moon. When the Moon sits perfectly atop the Earth’s shadow, it will slowly get lighter before taking on a glorious reddish-orange color.
The eclipse will continue for about 65 minutes and can be observed with the naked eye, with no need for any special machinery. Binoculars or a telescope can help to see better, though. The people of North and South America will experience the best sighting of this heavenly phenomenon. Partially, areas in Europe like Ireland and Portugal will also experience the total lunar eclipse.
