New Delhi: More than 150 false killer whales were found stranded on a remote beach in Tasmania of Australia on Wednesday. Reportedly, this marks the first significant stranding of this species in 50 years. Reasons for the beachings are unclear.
As per reports as many as 157 false killer whales have been stranded on this isolated beach in the Australian state of Tasmania. The rescue crews are trying to save the majority of the large dolphins that survived the ordeal.
As per reports, initial checks showed 136 animals were still alive, as per Tasmania’s environment department.
It is to be noted that these whales are counted as endangered dolphins. They can grow up to 20 feet long and weigh up to 1361 kg.
