Rohit Sharma has dismisses retirement talk by starting training with ex India batting coach Abhishek Nayar in Mumbai. The duo was seen at a gym, and Rohit posted a picture of the practice session on Instagram too. This is happening ahead of the Australia ODIs in October, where India will be playing a key series.

Rohit and Nayar share a long-standing relationship, both on and off the ground. Nayar has been a pillar of strength for Rohit, particularly in difficult moments in his career. Earlier, Rohit has credited Nayar with assisting him to enhance his skills and staying fit. It’s worth mentioning that Rohit approached Nayar for advice after he was omitted from the 2011 ODI World Cup team.

Contrary to what reports claimed about Rohit planning to retire from his ODI career sooner rather than later, his comeback to training shows that he has no plans of giving the format the boot anytime soon. Rohit has been going through rigorous training for the Australia series, which is scheduled to kick off on October 19. The Indian captain’s training sessions with Nayar are anticipated to be instrumental in making him ready for the matches.

With the Australia series around the corner, Rohit’s practice sessions with Nayar will be under close observation. The 38-year-old has declared himself out of Test cricket but appears determined to stay on in the ODI format as well. Shubman Gill, who is the new Test team captain, may also be in the running for a leadership role in the ODI format, replacing Rohit if necessary. However, Rohit’s current focus appears to be on preparing for the upcoming series rather than contemplating retirement.
