Woman, who came to attend uncle’s death ritual, stabbed to death by siblings in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: In a tragic incident, a woman was stabbed to death by her younger brother and elder sister allegedly over property dispute at Majhipada village under Govindpur police station limits in Sambalpur district on Sunday.

One Lina Sahoo had reportedly gone to Majhipada village to attend the funeral ceremony of her father’s elder brother. She was attacked by her elder sister Pushpanjali and younger brother Golak, with whom she had long dispute over parents’ property.

As informed by sources, Lina was alone in the house. In the meantime, Pushpanjali and Golak entered the house and had a heated argument with her over their dispute over property. Irate over the exchange of words, the siblings stabbed Lina with a sharp weapon, leaving her critically injured.

Some relatives and villagers admitted Lina to the Bamra Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment. However, doctors declared her brought dead.

Later, Govindpur police reached the village after getting information about the murder and launched a probe by detaining the siblings for interrogation.
