Chandbali: In a blatant violation of the wildlife laws, the participants of a wedding procession reportedly danced holding living cobra snakes to the tune of Nagin dance. The incident took place in the Chhedak village under Bansada Panchayat in Dhamra area in Bhadrak district of Odisha yesterday night.

As per reports, it was witnessed that a youth was dancing in the Barati while putting a cobra snake on his head while 2 eunuchs were also danced with the snakes.

This was a complete violation of the wildlife law. Besides it was risky, because if the snake would hurt someone during the dance, then someone’s life can be lost.

After receiving information about the unusual dance, the Dhamra Wildlife Department staff apprehended the procession. By then, the procession had already reached the Ugratara Muni chhaka of Chandabali.
