Marijuana worth Rs 3.2 crore seized at Bhubaneswar Airport

The seized contraband of marijuana was being brought from Bangkok to Bhubaneswar.

Bhubaneswar: After some days of gap, a huge contraband of marijuana has been seized at Bhubaneswar Airport in Odisha on Saturday. The worth of the seized illegal marijuana is said to be Rs 3 crore and 20 lakhs.

A youth from Kerala has been arrested in this connection.

As per reports, Customs Department personnel have managed to bust huge contraband of marijuana amounting to Rs 3 crore and 20 lakhs worth at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in the capital city of Odisha on Saturday.

As per the information, the contraband of marijuana was being illegally brought from Bangkok to Bhubaneswar.

It is to be noted that earlier in August a couple from Punjab was detained with Rs. 4 crore worth of hydroponic cannabis, which they were smuggling from Bangkok. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials seized the contraband during routine customs checks.

Earlier in January two female passengers were caught with marijuana worth over Rs. 9 crore, arriving from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The customs officials seized 19 vacuum-packed packets containing the contraband.
