Bus Plunges 200 Metres Into Gorge In Himachal’s Mandi, 25 Injured

Mandi: At least 25 were injured and some feared trapped, after a private bus veered off into a 200‑metre gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district early today.  The bus accident in Himachal Pradesh happened due to heavy rainfall in the area. Locals, police, and ambulance raced to the scene to rescue the people .

According to reports, the bus accident took place in the the rain‑soaked Patrighat section of the Mandi–Jahu area near Sarkaghat after the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid and fall off the road in Himachal Pradesh. Two passengers are feared to be critically hurt in the incident and some remain trapped under the wreckage.

Emergency responders worked through treacherous terrain to evacuate the injured, who were then rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the total number of casualties or the exact cause of the accident. However, continuous rain and a slippery hillside have been identified as key factors in the preliminary investigation .

A rescue operation is underway, with police and locals collaborating to free those still trapped. Officials have opened a formal probe into the tragedy, as the injured receive medical aid at district health facilities.
