Lucknow: In a major relief for police job aspirants, the Uttar Pradesh government has approved a one-time relaxation of three years in the upper age limit for the candidates applying for constable-level posts. The decision is aimed at helping those who missed earlier opportunities due to age restrictions.

As per the official notification, the male candidates must have attained 18 years of age and must not have crossed 22 years as on July 1, 2025, while the female candidates must have attained 18 years of age and must not have crossed 25 years as on July 1, 2025.

However, with the latest decision of the state government, both male and female candidates would now get three years of relaxation in upper age, meaning male candidates who are 25 years of age and female candidates who are 28 years of age can be part of the recruitment process.

The age relaxation will apply to all categories under the 2025 direct recruitment process, according to an official release issued on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The move has been taken under the Uttar Pradesh Public Services (Relaxation of Age Limit for Recruitment) Rules, 1992, and primarily addresses delays in recruitment caused during the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected thousands of eligible candidates. The one-time concession will cover recruitment to 32,679 posts, including:
