Railway sanctions FLS line from Konark to Bhubaneswar via Nimapada and Gop

The Indian Railway Department has sanctioned the Final Location Survey (FLS) for new railway line from Konark to Bhubaneswar via Nimapada and Gop, informed Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who had sought the project.

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Railway Department has sanctioned the Final Location Survey (FLS) for new railway line from Konark to Bhubaneswar via Nimapada and Gop, informed Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who had sought the project.

In a letter to the Deputy CM, the Railway Minister said, “Hon’ble Smt. Pravati Parida ji, Kindly refer to your letter dated 28.07.2025 regarding construction of new railway line from Konark to Bhubaneswar via Nimapada and Gop.”

“You would be pleased to know that Final Location Survey (FLS) for new railway line from Konark to Bhubaneswar via Nimapada and Gop has been sanctioned,” he added.

Meanwhile, Parida thanked the Railway Minister for sanctioning the Final Location Survey for preparation of the DPR for the new project.

“This long-awaited initiative will not only establish a direct rail link between the State Capital and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Konark but also bring immense benefits to the people of Gop and Nimapada, which fall under my Assembly Constituency,” she said on her X handle.

She further said, “The new line will boost local economies, support agricultural producers, and provide easier access to healthcare and education for residents. Significantly, this railway line will foster regional connectivity and boost tourism. This transformative project will bring lasting benefits to our people.”
