The new rules of the state government, which come into effect immediately, aim to control dust and reduce harmful emissions across the twin cities.
Here is the key restrictions and guidelines:
- Construction Curbs: All construction activities are banned between 6 PM and 10 AM to limit dust pollution.
- Demolition Stopped: Demolition of old buildings and structures within municipal limits has been prohibited until further orders.
- Heavy Vehicle Control: Entry and movement of trucks and other heavy vehicles inside city limits have been restricted. Police and RTO officials have been instructed to strictly check vehicle fitness and emission levels.
- Dust Suppression Drive: Water sprinkling on National Highways and major city roads will be carried out three times daily to control airborne dust.
- Fuel Use Ban: Roadside eateries and hotels are not allowed to use coal or firewood as fuel.
- No Open Burning: Burning of garbage, dry leaves, or plastic in open areas is strictly banned.
- Strict Action for Violators: The Forest & Environment Minister has warned that anyone violating these norms will face strict legal action and heavy penalties.
These measures are aimed at improving air quality and safeguarding public health in the twin cities.
