MGNREGS corruption case: Former sarpanch and gram sanjojoka of Sadangi GP get rigorous imprisonment
Former sarpanch and gram sanjojoka of Sadangi Grama Panchayat in Keonjhar district got rigorous imprisonment (RI) for their involvement in a corruption case linked to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

The Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar, today convicted Sadananda Naik, the former Sarapanch and Sripada Naik, the former Gram Sanjojoka, in Vigilance corruption case.
Both of them were charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) of PC Act,1988/409/468/471/120-B IPC, for misappropriation of government money by preparing inflated bill and falsification of muster rolls in connection with the road works under the MGNREG scheme in Champua Block.
The court sentenced each of them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of three years and to pay fine of Rs 10,000.
Prakash Kumar Naik, the ex-DSP, Vigilance, Balasore Division had investigated the case and Debadatta Biswal and Biswajit Kuanar, Spl. PPs, Vigilance, Keonjhar conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
