Elephant tramples woman to death in Angul

A 35-year-old woman was trampled by a wild elephant in Saharagoda SunaBhuin village under Bantala Block in Angul district

Angul: In a tragic incident, a 35-year-old woman was trampled by a wild elephant in Saharagoda SunaBhuin village under Bantala Block in Angul district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased woman has been identified as Jali Behera (35), a native of the same village as mentioned above.

As per reports, the incident took place when Jali went to fetch water from a nearby tube well. The tusker, attacked her and she died on the spot.

On being informed, the villagers reached the spot and found her lying in a pool of blood.

Meanwhile, the irate villagers have staged a protest and has demanded safety measures from the forest department.
