Woman falls off stairs after dogs attack in Ghaziabad, FIR lodged
The woman was chased and attacked in the corridor of her 14th floor apartment by her neighbour's two pet dogs.
Ghaziabad: As the nation awaits the Supreme Court’s hearing on stray dogs, another incident of dog attack has come to the fore. A 35-year-old woman has sustained injuries after falling in the corridor for being chased by dogs.
According to police, the woman was chased and attacked in the corridor of her 14th floor apartment by her neighbour’s two pet dogs. A FIR has been lodged against the neighbour in this regard.
According to sources, she was waiting for the lift to open when two German Shepherds attacked her. Her father said that she was going for office, when the two pet dogs chased her. She ran but slipped in the stairs and was critically injured in her head and hands.
Recalling another attack on his granddaughter by the same dogs, he added that he had lodged a complaint.
A video of the incident has gone viral and shows the woman running in the corridor to save herself. The incident happened on August 19.
The apex court will hear the case of stray dogs today. Earlier it had reserved its judgement on the stray dogs issue while hearing the case on Thursday.
On SC reserving order on stray dogs in Delhi-NCR, Advocate Vikas Gautam, told ANI, “… The Delhi government’s representative said that dogs bite even after they are sterilised. They are completely against animals and dogs. They said that if a snake doesn’t bite, then should we start keeping them at home?…”
The Supreme Court on August 11 gave its verdict on the menace of stray dogs in Delhi-NCR area. The Supreme Court has ordered the rescue of dogs in the entire NCR area including Delhi and Noida-Ghaziabad, and to keep them in safe places.
