‘Varanasi’ SS Rajamouli-Mahesh Babu’s film to hit screens on this date
Varanasi SS Rajamouli's film is all set to hit screens in the year 2027 with Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra the main characters.
Hyderabad: SS Rajamouli-Mahesh Babu’s film ‘Varanasi’ which is a jungle adventure thriller will reportedly hit the screens on April 9, 2027.
The film is directed by S.S. Rajamouli who is known for the global blockbusters Baahubali and RRR. It is being planned by the team to release the movie as a Sri Rama Navami special and an official announcement is expected soon.
Apart from Mahesh Babu, the other cast in the upcoming jungle adventure thriller are Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film also features other prominent actors in important roles.
Described as a globe-trotting action-adventure, the story is inspired by the Indiana Jones franchise and elements of Hindu mythology, specifically drawing parallels to the character of Lord Hanuman. The narrative is rumoured to center on the quest for the mythical Sanjeevani herb.

The film is fully being shot in IMAX format and it will be released in multiple languages. The music composition of the movie is done by MM Keeravani, while the screenplay is written by Vijayendra Prasad.
The film was tentatively known as SSMB29 but later it was announced as Varanasi on November 15, 2025. It is reportedly being said that this movie will have two parts and the first is going to be released in the year 2027.
