Anant Ambani, founder of Vantara, a wildlife conservation centre has been honoured with the ‘Global Humanitarian Award’ at an international awards ceremony held in the United States for his remarkable work in the field of wildlife conservation and animal welfare.

This award was given to him for his leadership in the rescue, treatment, rehabilitation, and conservation of animals through Vantara.

Anant becomes the youngest recipient of the award and the first Asian to be honoured with it, the organisation said. The award was presented at an international event focused on wildlife protection and animal welfare.

Global Humane Society said Ambani was chosen for his role in setting up Vantara and for leading conservation and animal welfare initiatives that combine scientific methods with large-scale rescue and rehabilitation.

The Global Humanitarian Award has previously given to political leaders, including actors Shirley MacLaine, John Wayne and Betty White, as well as former US Presidents John F Kennedy and Bill Clinton.
