Earthquake of 7.6 magnitude jolts Philippines, tsunami threat issued

The Philippine Institute of Volacanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) pegged the magnitude at 7.6 that occurred around 9.43 am (local time) today

Philippines: An earthquake of 7.6 magnitude rattled Mindanao in Philippines. This has been termed a ‘destructive tsunami’ with ‘life-threatening’.

This has triggered a possible tsunami threat in the area. The Philippine Institute of Volacanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) has pegged the magnitude at 7.6.

Similarly, the earthquake has also hit the Manay (Davao Oriental) at 07.09°N, 127.09°E – 062 km S 77° E location. An advisory issuing a tsunami warning has also been issued by the PHIVOLCS. 

Smaller quakes of 4.9 magnitude were also felt at 10.15 am (local time) in Manay (Davao Oriental).

Preliminary reports have suggested no major damages.
