In a shocking incident, as many as 1000 hikers have been stranded by a blizzard on the Tibetan slopes of Mount Everest. The hikers told media that they were lucky to be rescued.
According to reports, all the stranded hikers were contacted and 350 were safely rescued. The Chinese state media also informed that 350 people have been rescued till the filing of the reports.
Hundreds of tourists and trekkers were trapped due to heavy snow in the Tibetan valley. The number of tourists was high as there is a annual festival in China and a long vacation.
According to reports, more than 1,000 climbers were stranded on the Tibetan side of Everest due to heavy snowfall. Out of them, only 200 climbers are in contact with the rescue team. The rescue team is busy bringing them to safety.
The climbers are stranded at an altitude of about 4,200 meters. Meanwhile, the administration has banned the sale of tickets for Everest.
This season is the season when there is very little snowfall in the Himalayan region. It is generally considered the safest season for trekking. But last week, heavy snowfall and rains occurred in the Tibetan region, which made trekking difficult. Meanwhile, Nepal is currently affected by heavy rains. Many lives have been lost in floods and landslides in Nepal.
