9 killed as gunmen open fire at tavern in South Africa
At least nine people were killed and ten others were injured after some unknown gun men opened fire at a tavern in South Africa.
South Africa: At least nine people were killed and ten others were injured after some unknown gun men opened fire at a tavern in a township near the city of Johannesburg in South Africa on Sunday.
The incident took place in a at the tavern at Bekkersdal, in a gold mining area around 40 kilometres (25 miles) southwest of the city just before 1am local time on Saturday.
According to sources, more than ten men came to the bar in a white kombi and a silver sedan then opened fire at the tavern patrons at Bekkersdal. Then they fled the scene.
The police has launched a search warrant against the group of accused and is currently looking for them.
Some media reports initially put the death toll at 10, but later revised to nine.
The dead included a driver from an online car-hailing service who had been outside the bar, provincial police commissioner Major General Fred Kekana told SABC television.
