Islamabad: At least seven Pakistani soldiers were killed and 13 others injured in a suicide attack in a compound of security forces in Pakistan’s northwest near the Afghan border.
Police said a suicide car bomber linked to the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) rammed into the security forces compound in Mir Ali, triggering a gunfight that left three militants dead. The massive blast damaged nearby homes.
Later, The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility, saying its Khalid bin Waleed suicide unit and Tehreek Taliban Gulbahadar carried out the attacks.
The bombing near the Afghan border comes just days after Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to a ceasefire following days of cross-border fighting that killed dozens and wounded hundreds on both sides.
