WhatsApp Liquid Glass Design update rolling out for iOS users, offers refreshed interface in the app

The new ‘Liquid Glass Design’ update on WhatsApp on iOS, integrates the latest visual framework introduced with iOS 26 by leveraging the iOS 26 SDK.

Meta owned social messaging platform-WhatsApp is rolling out a new update for its iOS users. According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is rolling out a new interface designed with Apple’s new Liquid Glass design language for the iOS 26. This update is available on the latest WhatsApp for iOS 25.28.75 and it can be downloaded on the App Store.

The new ‘Liquid Glass Design’ update on WhatsApp on iOS, integrates the latest visual framework introduced with iOS 26 by leveraging the iOS 26 SDK. This brings aesthetic features like transparency, depth effects, and fluid interactions on the app.

With the latest update users get subtle transparency and layering effects that make components float above the main content. This offers a sense of depth and dimension in the app. The new feature also allows adaptive translucency and background-reflecting effects. The tab bar offers a semi-translucent surface which blurs the content behind it. The new design element is fully compatible with the light and dark themes on the app. Additionally, it adjusts with the transparency and background effects automatically.

WhatsApp has also adopted the system’s native keyboard post the update. This means users get a translucent and reflective design that integrates with the interface seamlessly. The buttons in the app have also received a refreshed design to match the Liquid Glass style. There is a semi-translucent surface that reflects the background. The WhatsApp context menu also gets redesigned with the Liquid Glass design language. The bottom-line of the latest update by WhatsApp (for iOS) is to bring a consistent visual experience to all sections of the app. However, the report by WABetaInfo has mentioned that some areas of the interface are not fully compatible with the Liquid Glass.

In case you are wondering about the availability of the new Liquid Glass design language for the iOS 26 app, it is available for limited amount of users on iOS.
