Honor has teased a new Robot Phone with an pop-up camera at the launch event of Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro in China. The Honor Magic 8 Series made its debut in the domestic market on October 15, 2025. Honor has confirmed that the Robot Phone will make it’s official debut at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, that will be held in Barcelona in early March next year.
The upcoming Honor Robot Phone will be part of the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) device ecosystem. The smartphone maker claimed that the phone will integrate robotics, photography, and multi-modal AI capabilities. It features a gimbal camera that heavily resembles that of the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and it rotates too. True to it’s name of Robot Phone, the gimbal camera moves just like a robot.
The phone’s camera has a “AI brain”, while offering “mobility of a robot.” The device has been named as a “revolutionary AI device” that combines multi-modal intelligence, advanced robotics, and “next-generation imaging”. The video teaser shows the camera providing information on a dress, surroundings, and it can even play with an infant.
There will of course be a lot of AI features built-in too. The movable AI camera appears to have a USB Type-C port, which could be present for attaching other accessories. The phone is shown with a hole-punch display, which might house the selfie camera.
Right now, Honor is billing this as a concept, and it’s unclear if at MWC in March we’ll see the full presentation of it as a concept device or a ‘finished’ one. Time will tell. Before then, you can register on Honor’s website to find out more and get “behind-the-scenes stories and first-hand information”.
This also lets you participate in early user research, with “your valuable feedback” possibly contributing to shaping the final form of the product. You will also be “one of the world’s first to experience, touch, and test this revolutionary device”, so all in all, entering your email to get all these perks seems like a pretty good idea.
