Apple iPhone 16 series finally available in Indonesia, was initially banned after global launch

After five months of ban in Indonesia, the Apple iPhone 16 series has finally launched in the country. Price starts at IDR 12,499,000.

After five months of ban in Indonesia, the Apple iPhone 16 series has finally launched in the country. The iPhone 16 series include five devices – iPhone 16, iphone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16e. Interested buyers can purchase the devices from Apple resellers- digimap and iBox. After placing the orders, the devices will be delivered between 1-3 business days.

According to media reports, the iPhone 16 ban in Indonesia lasted for over 166 days. Indonesian government banned the devices in last October as Apple could not meet investment commitments. However, the Cupertino tech giant managed to enter a negotiation with the government of Indonesia. Reports mentioned that at one point Apple had raised its investment in the country to $1 billion.

The final report however mentioned that a deal was set at $300 million from Apple. This includes manufacturing facility for Apple AirTag trackers in Indonesia along with separate factory for accessories. Apple will also train locals of the country and use them as resource in the research and development of the company.

IPhone 16 Pro Max costs IDR 22,499,000 (approx. Rs 1,15,133) for the base variant.
