Jasprit Bumrah breaks silence on Dropped catches against England during opening test match at Leeds
At the post match conference, Jasprit Bumrah opens up about missed catches, India's test captaincy denial and more.
After the opening test match against England at Leeds on Sunday, veteran Indian seamer Jasprit Bumrah opened up about missing catching opportunities off his bowling and emphasised the need to move on during the game.
He gave an impressive game 5/83 in 24.4 overs despite three dropped catches, including Ben Duckett, Olie Pope and Harry Brook who were put down by Yashasvi Jaiswal.
He also dismissed Brook for a duck but it was later deemed a no-ball. During the post-match press conference, Jasprit Bumrah said, “Just for a second, you cannot just sit and cry about it. You have to move forward with the game. I try not to take it too far in my head and forget it.” He further said, “A lot of them are new to the game, and for the first time, it is hard to see the ball here. Nobody drops catches intentionally, and it is a part and parcel of the game. They will learn from it.”
This game was Bumrah’s 10th five- wicket haul, becoming the first Indian to achieve this milestone.
Further during the interview when he was asked about not taking up India’s test captaincy, he said that he wanted to take care of his body and contribute as a player.
