New-Delhi: India captain Shubman Gill slammed his maiden tests century today in the ongoing second Test against West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi by achieving his fifth hundred of the year.
Gill reached the landmark moment in 177 balls, thoroughly dominating the West Indies bowlers.
The India skipper has now matched the rare feat of his idol, Virat Kohli, becoming only the second captain to score five Test centuries in a calendar year.
Gill joined this club in 2025, having scored 940 runs in 14 innings in Tests at an average of 72.3. He’s maintained a strike rate of 62.29 while scoring one half century as well.
Kohli had reached this milestone twice during his tenure, in 2017 and again in 2018.
India have already won the first Test of the two-Test series against West Indies at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium by an innings and 140 runs.
