Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated the Odisha-SAI Regional Badminton Academy in Bhubaneswar, in the presence of badminton legend Pullela Gopichand.
The Academy will nurture and train budding badminton talents from Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Assam, North-East and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Badminton academy will be mentored by Pullela Gopichand, whio has trained top guns like Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu. A hotel and gymnasium will be functional in the academy premises by October 2017.
After inaugurating the Academy, Naveen Patnaik tweeted, “Inaugurated Regional Badminton Academy, Bhubaneswar. Confident, world champs will emerge from Odisha with Shri Pullela Gopichand as mentor.”
