Bengaluru: The Vijay Hazare Trophy matches has been relocated from Chinnaswamy to BCCI Centre of Excellence due to security and safety concerns at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The match was originally scheduled at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, but police denied permission to use the venue due to unresolved safety and crowd control concerns following a fatal stampede in June where 11 people lost their lives.
The decision followed a directive from the Karnataka Home Ministry citing security reasons.
A government-appointed committee, inspected the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium and submitted a report that cited critical gaps in venue infrastructure and emergency preparedness.
Following the report, permission was denied to be held in Chinnaswamy Stadium due to high-profile players like Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant, both are featured to play for Delhi, were subsequently moved to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE).
A total of 19 Vijay Hazare Trophy matches are scheduled to be held tomorrow, Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
