A rare wildlife moment as a Himalayan red fox was spotted on the icy heights of Pangong Tso, Ladakh
Ladakh: A rare wildlife moment from the icy heights of Pangong Tso has taken social media by storm after a Himalayan red fox was spotted calmly walking close to a tourist vehicle. The video, recorded during a roadside halt near the famous high-altitude lake, has left netizens stunned by the sheer beauty of the animal against Ladakh’s barren landscape.
The clip was shared on X by user Sidharth Shukla and soon went viral, drawing thousands of views and reactions. In the video, the fox can be seen strolling along the road without panic, appearing unusually comfortable around humans. Many social media users praised the tourists for not disturbing or feeding the animal, while some initially mistook it for a wolf due to its size and appearance. Wildlife observers later confirmed it to be a Himalayan red fox, a shy species rarely seen so close to human presence.

Amid the admiration, Indian Forest Service officer Parveen Kaswan raised a serious concern. He warned that such behavior in wild animals could be the result of people feeding them earlier. He stressed that feeding wildlife out of sympathy can be harmful, as it changes natural habits and increases the risk of accidents and conflict.
Experts say the incident highlights the urgent need for responsible tourism in sensitive regions like Ladakh, where even small human actions can disturb the fragile ecological balance.
