A 24-meter-long rare pygmy blue whale was spotted in Western Austrralia. The video of the creature has gona viral on social media.
In a breathtaking moment, a visitors of Busselton Jetty were stunned to see a rare pygmy blue whale swimming just meters from shore in Western Australia. The video capturing the enormous creature has stunned the internet.
In the clip, the creature glided smoothly through the crystal clear water, creating an unforgettable sight. Many viewers even wondered if it was real or AI. One user commented, “Amazing! How lucky were you to witness that magnificent creature moving past!”
While another added, “That is just bonkers! I’ve read about how big they can get with my students, but never seen one that large. Incredible!”
The whale in the video was believed to be fully grown, measuring nearly 24 metres long. Pygmy blue whales were first identified in 1966 in the Indian Ocean and Southwest Pacific.
While they are slightly smaller than the “true” blue whale, which can reach 30 metres, they are still considered among the largest animals on Earth.
The appearance of the whale is linked to its yearly journey. Every year, starting around September, pygmy blue whales migrate south from their warm breeding grounds near Indonesia. On this long trip, they pass through Geographe Bay, making it a perfect place for lucky whale sightings.
