World-famous Bargarh Dhanu Yatra to begin from December 24
As per the decision taken by the Dhanuyatra Mahotsava Samitee, the Dhanu Yatra will be held at world's largest open-air stage for 11 days and continue till January 3, 2026.
Bargarh: The world-famous Bargarh Dhanu Yatra this year will begin from December 24. Decision to this effect was taken during the meeting of the executive and advisory committees of the Dhanuyatra Mahotsava Samitee.
As per the decision taken by the Dhanuyatra Mahotsava Samitee, the Dhanu Yatra will be held at world’s largest open-air stage for 11 days and continue till January 3, 2026.
The Dhanuyatra Mahotsava Samitee meeting was today held under the chairmanship of Bargarh district Collector Aditya Goyal, who also serves as the event president.
During the 11 days of Dhanu Yatra, the entire city of Bargarh will turn into the Mathura city of the Dwapar era. As per the tradition, with the commencement of the4 Dhanu Yatra, the reign of Kansa will begin in Bargarh cum Mathura and even the police administration will follow the instructions of Maharaj Kansa.
Similarly, Ambapali will turn into Gopapur and the Jira River will be counted as the Yamuna River. Maharaj Kansa’s Rangamahal has been built in the Lok Mandap field of the town.
Maharaj Kansa’s Darbar will also continue in the streets of Bargarh where he will levy fines. Mathuranagari will tremble with the laughter and orders of Kansa.
The Dhanu Yatra festival will be organized on 22 stages within a radius of about seven kilometers of Bargarh. Scenes of Dhanu Yatra will be performed daily in Kansa Darbar, Rangamahal and Nanda Darbar.
Thousands of people from different parts of the State and even the country flock to Bargarh Town to witness the annual festival which depicts the story of Lord Krishna’s victory over the evil king Kansa on the final day.
