Woman critical due to fire mishap at Durga Puja pandal in Rourkela
The incident occurred after she lit a lamp in front of the Goddess and was placing it on the lamp stand when her saree came into contact with other lit lamps
Rourkela: A woman sustained critical burn injury in a fire accident at the Durga Puja pandal in Rourkela’s Shakti Nagar today in Sundargarh district of Odisha. Her saree caught fire from a lamp during the Astami puja and thus she sustained burn injury.
As per reports, the incident occurred after she lit a lamp in front of the Goddess and was placing it on the lamp stand when her saree came into contact with other lit lamps.
Members of the Shakti Nagar Durga Committee quickly responded by pouring water to extinguish the flames. Local women helped change her burnt saree, and the injured woman was rushed to Rourkela Ispat General Hospital for treatment.
She was admitted to the Burn Center of the hospital and her treatment was started. The injured woman’s health condition is currently stable, the doctor said.
