Winter session: Odisha Speaker Surama Padhy adjourns house sine die before 18 working days

Odisha Legislative Assembly speaker Surama Padhy on Tuesday adjourned the winter session sine die before the schedule i.e 18 working days.

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Legislative Assembly speaker Surama Padhy on Tuesday adjourned the winter session sine die before the schedule i.e 18 working days.

Speaker Surama Padhy made the announcement after government chief whip Saroj Kumar Pradhan moved a motion to adjourn the house stating that no major official business was left.  

The winter session had commenced on November 27 with President Droupadi Murmu’s address was originally scheduled to conclude till December 31 with 29 working days.

However, the winter session was wrapped-up with just 11 working days while 18 working days were left.

A day after the President’s address, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented a Supplementary Budget of Rs 17,440 crore for 2025–26 on November 28.

Seven major Bills including Odisha Appropriation Bill and Bills proposing higher pensions for former legislators and revising the salaries of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Ministers and MLAs were passed during this session of the House.
