Vedanta Lanjigarh Archery Initiative emerges ‘Overall Champion’ with 12 medals at the Odisha School Archery Championship
Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, is celebrating a major achievement for its grassroots sports initiative in Lanjigarh, after young archers from the programme clinched the coveted "Overall Champion" title at the Odisha School Archery Championship.
Lanjigarh: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, is celebrating a major achievement for its grassroots sports initiative in Lanjigarh, after young archers from the programme clinched the coveted “Overall Champion” title at the Odisha School Archery Championship. The archers from Kalahandi district dominated the competition, organised by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) in Sundargarh, by collectively securing a spectacular total of 8 Gold, 3 Silver, and 1 Bronze medals.
Vedanta Lanjigarh’s flagship Sports Training Initiative supports young archers with expert coaching, world-class equipment, and competitive exposure, underscoring Vedanta’s commitment to nurturing local talent. Their achievements underscore the immense potential of young talent in Kalahandi and the transformative impact of structured training and guidance.

Launched in 2018, Vedanta’s Sports Training Initiative identifies and nurtures sporting talent from underserved communities, offering expert-led coaching in archery and athletics along with access to quality equipment and training infrastructure. The initiative also facilitates participation in competitions nationwide. To date, more than 100 young archers have been trained under the programme, collectively winning more than 50 medals at state and national championships in the past year alone, demonstrating Vedanta’s sustained commitment to grassroots sports development.
