Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the recent violence in Cuttack City, Twin City Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh today warned against objectionable posts on social media platforms.

While addressing a press conference on Cuttack Dargah Bazar clash today, the Police Commissioner warned to take stringent action against those who would post objectionable contents on any of the social media platforms.

“People cannot post on the social media anything and everything they want. They are public platforms and have consequences on the society. It will not be tolerated if people after posting objectionable contents on social media say that they had forgotten. Those who disturb peace and harmony will be identified and punished as per the law,” Singh warned.

While two persons have been arrested on charges of posting objectionable contents on the social media platforms, over 300 offensive posts were deleted from different social media accounts, the Police Commissioner informed.

“A total of 9 persons have been arrested in the Cuttack violence case. While 6 were arrested on first day, 3 persons have been arrested today. Likewise, 20 people have been arrested for inciting violence after not getting permission for rally in Cuttack city,” he added.

He further said that the situation in Cuttack city is now completely under control. Peace has returned to the city and people’s life has now become normal.
