Truck catches fire on Rampela Bridge, driver narrowly escapes, watch

Sambalpur/ Jharsuguda: A truck caught fire on the Rampela Bridge connecting Jharsuguda and Sambalpur districts of Odisha on Saturday after crashing into the bridge structure. Fortunately, the driver narrowly escaped and sustained only injury.

As per the witnesses, the said truck was speedily travelling on the 2.5 km long Rampela Bridge when it hit the side wall of the bridge and then caught fire. As people were witnessing the truck caught fire and burnt to ashes. However, the driver though sustained injury, narrowly escaped. He managed to escape the burning vehicle, narrowly avoiding a tragedy.

After getting information Banaharpali police and fire department rushed to the spot and the fire services personnel doused the flames.

This isn’t the first time a vehicle mishap has caused chaos on this stretch. Last month, a similar incident on the same bridge left two vehicles damaged, though luckily, no lives were lost. Locals are now demanding stricter safety measures.

The cause of today’s fire is under investigation. The driver is receiving medical treatment.
