A huge whirlwind, also called as waterspout and tornado, was reportedly seen yesterday in the southwest of the temple of Goddess Kalijai, the presiding deity of Chilika, when hundreds of tourists were enjoying the sightseeing.
The sudden changes in atmospheric pressure, whirlwind, which triggered fear among the visitors so much that they screamed and ran for safety. People called the activity of the wind, which lasted for some minutes, as ‘Hatiasundha’ (elephant trunk).
Before it vanished, some tourists captured the whirlwind on their phones and circulated with others. Following which some videos clips of the incident are now going viral on different social media platforms.
However, it is not the first time such whirlwind was seen over the world-famous Chilika Lake. Such weather activity was seen in 2018 and 2019.
