Series accidents occur in Banpur bypass on Bhubaneswar outskirts, 1 dead and 5 injured

Series bus accidents in Bhubaneswar outskirts on the Banpur bypass has claimed the lives of 1 person and injured 5 people.

Bhubaneswar: Series of accidents took place on the Banpur bypass as three buses rammed against each other. One person died on the spot while five others were injured when three buses collided head-on.

The deceased biker has been identified as Shubham Jyoti Prahraj of Nimikseta village under Balugaon police station in Khordha district.

The three bus drivers fled the scene. The accident occurred when the first bus stopped to save a cow. The biker in the middle of the three buses is in critical condition, while the person sitting behind him has died.

It is worth noting that a bus going from Simliguda to Bhubaneswar suddenly applied brakes to save cows on the road, a bike was coming behind it which also applied brakes.

Another bus behind the bike hit it from behind. A bus going from Visakhapatnam to Kolkata hit it from behind.

Among others, two passengers and an assistant driver and helper were injured and are being treated at Balugaon Hospital. The drivers of the three buses involved in the accident have absconded. Banpur police reached the spot and are investigating.
