Odisha vigilance nabbed senior OAS officer Banamali Satpathy, who is posted as the Executive Officer of Belaguntha Notified Area Council (NAC) in Ganjam district while he was demanding and taking bribe today.

Berhampur: Odisha vigilance nabbed senior OAS officer Banamali Satpathy, who is posted as the Executive Officer of Belaguntha Notified Area Council (NAC) in Ganjam district while he was demanding and taking bribe today.

The vigilance sleuths apprehended the OAS officer while demanding and taking bribe of Rs 25,000 from a staffer for relieving him on his transfer and for releasing his arrear salary and Last Pay Certificate (LPC).

Accused Satpathy was demanding bribe Rs 25,000 to release his pending arrear salary and to send his LPC (Last Pay Certificate). As a result, he was unable to draw salary at his new place of posting.

Left with no other option, the complainant reported the matter to Vigilance authorities. Based on this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Satpathy today at Balipadar Bus Stop while taking bribe Rs 25,000 from the complainant.

The vigilance officials also recovered the entire bribe money of Rs 25,000 from possession of accused Executive Officer and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations linked to Satpathy from Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.

In this connection, Berhampur Vigilance PS case no 14/2025, U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against Satapathy.
