Senior advocate Pitabas Panda shot dead in Berhampur
Senior advocate Pitabas Panda was shot dead by unidentified miscreants outside his residence in Brahmanagar of Berhampur this evening.
Berhampur: Senior advocate Pitabas Panda was shot dead by unidentified miscreants outside his residence in Brahmanagar of Berhampur on Monday evening.
According to sources, two bike-borne miscreants fired at Pitabas Panda and fled the spot before anyone could identify them. Following the firing, he was rushed to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in a very critical condition. However, doctors who attended him at the hospital declared him dead upon arrival.
While the exact cause of the firing at Panda is yet to be known, the local police reached the spot of crime after getting information and started an investigation into the matter.
Apart from examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the miscreants, police have formed a special team to trace and arrest them.
It is to be noted here that Panda was a member of the Odisha State Bar Council. His brutal murder has shocked and surprised everyone in the area.
