Ragging at XIM University! Student forced to consume drugs, drink toilet water
A student of the XIM University on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar was allegedly subjected to ragging and physical abuses and was forced to consume drugs and drink toilet water.
Bhubaneswar: A student of the XIM University on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar was allegedly subjected to ragging and physical abuses and was forced to consume drugs and drink toilet water.
As alleged by the victim, a second-year management student from Aul in Kendrapara district, one of his classmates (female) and some seniors took him to the second floor of the University on November 24 and forced him to consume drugs after putting him in a toilet.
When the victim protested and denied to take drugs, he was brutally tortured and beaten-up and was forced to drink toilet water. The student also claimed that he was forced to admit that he was wrong and threatened to pay two lakh rupees. The accused students allegedly recorded the entire ragging incident on their mobile phones.
After learning about the ragging, the victim student’s parents informed the University authorities about it through an email. Following this, the authorities of the institutions reportedly called them and advised to resolve the matter.
But later, the victim’s mother filed a complaint at Pipili police station seeking an investigation and action against the accused students. She also claimed that his son has been issued death threats.
Based on her complaint, police registered a case and started an investigation. The cops also conducted a medical examination of the victim student. Further probe into the matter is under.
Reaction of the XIM University authorities over the matter is yet to be received.
