Radhaballavpur RI Nagendra Kumar Das nabbed while taking bribe of Rs 4000

Bhadrak: Revenue Inspector (RI) Nagendra Kumar Das has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 4000 from a complainant.

As informed by the Vigilance sleuths, Das was nabbed while taking the second and final instalment of bribe Rs 4,000 of overall demand of bribe Rs 7,000 from a complainant for submitting a favourable enquiry report to Dhamnagar Tahasildar in Mutation cases filed by the complainant on August 3 for change of records of his inherited land and land acquired through gift deeds etc. in his name.

Earlier, Das had received Rs 2,000 from complainant a few days back and told him to pay the rest amount of bribe soon or else he would not submit the favourable report for change of land records.

When complainant expressed inability to pay rest amount Rs 5,000, accused reduced the amount to Rs 4,000. Left with no other option, the complainant approached the Vigilance authorities about the matter.

Following this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Das in front of RI office, while taking second and final instalment of bribe Rs 4,000. The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of the Revenue Inspector.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations link to the Revenue Inspector from Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.

In this connection, Balasore Vigilance PS Case No.14/2025, U/s-7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Nagendra Kumar Das, RI Radhaballavpur. Detailed report follows.
