Pug marks of tiger spotted in Angul district of Odisha

Presence of a pug mark in the Chendipuda forest range of Angul district created a panic among the locals as it was suspected to be of a tiger.

Angul: Pug marks, suspectedly of a tiger were spotted in Angul. After Deogarh, the pug marks were spotted in Chendipada forest range under Angul district.

According to information, in the jungles of Chendipada and Patakumunda jungles the pug marks of a creature suspected to be that of a tiger were seen.

The foresters suspected from the preliminary matching that the pug marks belonged to a tiger. The forest officials said that the tiger crossed the Gouduni canal into the Kankurapala village under Chendipada forest range.

The locals are panicking after they heard about the presence of a tiger. The officials have taken the photographs of the marks.

The officials have asked the locals to be on alert as there might be chance of a tiger in the area.

On the other hand, the Forest Department in Odisha’s Similipal Tiger Reserve has commenced systematic preparations for the All India Tiger Estimation 2026, with a year-long roadmap laid out for training, field exercises, and scientific data collection aimed at tracking the big cat population.
