Cuttack: Police resorted to moderate lathi charge to quell the protesters who were trying to disturb peace in Cuttack city today. Tension has been witnessed during a huge procession by various organizations in Dargah Bazaar.

A procession is being held today ahead of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Cuttack bandh call for tomorrow. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has called for this bandh over the group clash that took place during the immersion procession in Dargah Bazaar.

Meanwhile, peace is returning to the city of brotherhood Cuttack. The Commissionerate Police is making all efforts for that.

Meanwhile senior Congress leader Md. Mokim has appealed to restore peace in Cuttack. Congress leader Mohammed Mokim has said that those who caused such incidents during the procession in Durga Puja are anti-socials. He demanded that the culprits be given strict punishment based on the CCTV footage. He has appealed to the city people to restore peace in Cuttack.

Similarly, former chairman of the Odisha Board of Waqf, Syed Ekram Hussain, has also strongly condemned the incident and demanded action against the culprits.
