Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: Over 100 people sustained burn injuries due to Diwali celebration mishaps in Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack today, said sources.

According to reports, a total of 62 persons were rushed to the Capital Hospital between 2 PM and 11 PM after they sustained burn injuries on different parts of their bodies while celebrating Diwali with fire crackers.

Likewise, more than 40 people from different parts of Cuttack City were admitted at SCB Medical College and Hospital after sustaining burn injuries during Diwali celebration.

This apart, critically injured persons from other districts are also being brought to the government-run hospital for treatment of burn injuries.

In a related incident, a car and a scooty collided head-on at Gopabandhu Square in Bhubaneswar due to low visibility caused by smoke following Diwali celebration. The biker was seriously injured in the collision and was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

In another such tragic accident in Tamando police station area of the State Capital City, a youth was found lying on the roadside reportedly after being hit by an unknown vehicle. He was rescued and rushed to hospital for medication, informed sources.
