Odisha Vigilance uncovers assets worth crores of Jagatsinghpur Forest Officer, watch

The searches at four locations revealed a palatial multi-storeyed building, 5 valuable plots, cash, 250 gram gold jewelry, and Rs. 80 lakh deposits.

Jagatsinghpur: In a major crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance has unearthed assets worth crores belonging to Forest Range Officer Rajendra Kumar Samantray in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha on Saturday.

After receiving allegation against him of possession of disproportionate assets (DA) beyond his known sources of income, the Vigilance carried out simultaneous house searches in four places.

Odisha Vigilance officials on Saturday conducted raids at four places in properties associated with forest ranger officer Rajendra Samantaray in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

The forest ranger officer Rajendra Samantaray is posted in Rahama Forest Range in Jagatsinghpur district.

The searches at four locations revealed a palatial multi-storeyed building, valuable plots, cash, gold, and deposits.

The assets include:

– A 5500 sqft triple-storeyed building in Chatara, Jagatsinghpur

– A 2500 sqft double-storeyed building in Samantarayapur village

– 5 valuable plots in Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur

– Cash of Rs.3.69 lakhs

– Deposits worth Rs.80.68 lakhs

– 250 gms of gold jewellery

– 1 Bolero, 2 two-wheelers, and household articles worth Rs.11 lakhs

Samantray, serving 4 decades in Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara, is being probed for assets disproportionate to his income. Vigilance teams are assessing the properties’ value, and more assets are likely to be unearthed.
