Odisha vigilance raid on Tahasildar of Mahakalpada in Kendrapara district caught red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000
Kendrapara: There has been an Odisha Vigilance raid on Siba Mallick, OAS, Tahsildar of Mahakalpada in Kendrapara district of Odisha. The Tahasildar has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance.
According to repoprts, the Tahasil was caughe red-handed while demanding and taking bribe of Rs.20,000/- from a complainant for helping in eviction of an illegal structure over Government land obstructing the passage to his (complainant’s) house. In this connection, the Complainant had filed an encroachment case in the year 2024.
Following this, the RI concerned had submitted a report in April 2024 to the Tahasildar Mahakalpada confirming forcible encroachment of government land by some miscreants blocking the common road. Since then, the complainant met Mallick, the competent authority to evict illegal encroachment, several times requesting for help in removing the illegal encroachment blocking his access.
However, Mallick the Tahasildar, demanded bribe of Rs.20,000/- from the Complainant for the purpose, stating that the file would be kept pending for years otherwise. Left with no other option, the Complainant reported the matter to Vigilance authorities. Based on this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Mallick today in his rest room inside the Tahasil Office while taking the bribe Rs.20,000/- from the Complainant.
The entire bribe money amounting to Rs.20,000/- has been recovered and seized from the possession of Sri Mallick, Tahasildar. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at six locations linked to Sri Mallick from DA angle.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.29/2025, U/s-7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Sri Mallick, Tahasildar. Detailed report follows.
