Odisha Vigilance nabs clerk-cum-cashier of Irrigation project Sundargarh for taking bribe of Rs 7,000
Odisha Vigilance nabs clerk of Rukura irrigation project for taking bribe of Rs 7,000 for releasing the land acquisition money.
Sundargarh: Odisha Vigilance nabs Rukura Irrigation Project staffer, Bonai in Sundargarh district while taking bribe of Rs 7,000. This was the second installment of bribe for the release of land acquisition money of a tribal land loser. The Clerk cum cashier, Prithviraj Kamila had earlier taken a bribe of Rs 10,000.
The accused Clerk-cum-Cashier, Land Acquisition and Rehabilitation Office, Rukura Irrigation Project, Bonai, Sundargarh district has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding Rs 20,000/- bribe and taking Rs. 7,000/- as second installment of bribe from a tribal land loser.
He had asked the bribe to process his file for release of compensation amount Rs.2.07 Lakhs against the acquired land of the complainant. For last six months, complainant had been requesting Kamila to process his file for release of land acquisition money.
But, Kamila demanded bribe money Rs 20, 000/- to process the file of the complainant. The complainant paid Rs 10,000/-, yet the accused did not release the compensation, demanding the balance amount. When the complainant expressed inability to pay the balance, Kamila reduced the bribe amount to Rs.7,000/-. Left with no option, the complainant approached the Vigilance authorities narrating the harassment by the accused Kamila. Following this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Kamila, Clerk-cum-Cashier today, while taking bribe Rs 7,000/- from the complainant. The entire bribe money Rs.7,000/- has been recovered from the possession of accused Kamila and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at four locations of Kamila from DA angle.
In this connection, Rourkela Vigilance PS Case No. 10 dt.19.09.2025, U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Kamila, Clerk-cum-Cashier. Detailed report follows.
