Odisha Vigilance apprehended Begunia Data Entry Operator (DEO) Smruti Jayashree while taking bribe of Rs 8,000 from a complainant on Wednesday.
Khurda: Odisha Vigilance apprehended Begunia Data Entry Operator (DEO) Smruti Jayashree while taking bribe of Rs 8,000 from a complainant on Wednesday.
The Data Entry Operator was apprehended while demanding and taking a bribe from a complainant for online processing of the file towards conversion of their land from agricultural to non-agricultural purpose.
As per Government rules, the complainant had applied online on September 1, 2025 for the above purpose. But, the accused DEO was not processing the file online for conversion of agricultural land and was demanding bribe Rs 8,000 from the complainant to initiate the file.
Finding no other option, the complainant reported the matter to the Vigilance authorities, following this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed her today while taking bribe Rs 8,000.
The tainted bribe money has been recovered and seized from exclusive possession of the accused Data Entry Operator.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted associated with her two locations from the Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No. 23 dated 14.10.2025, U/s 7 of the P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and an investigation is in progress against Smruti Jayashree. Detailed report follows.
