Odisha to develop Jackfruit brand: Deputy CM Singh Deo

Bhubaneswar: Mithilesh Desai, the Chairman of JackfruitKing Agro Producer Company Ltd, Maharastra paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Chief Minister, Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Energy Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo at Lokseva Bhawan today. Discussion held regarding Jack fruit cultivation and processing in Odisha.
The discussion was made under the Chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister in presence of the Principal Secretary to Govt. DA & FE Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Director of Horticulture Kalunge Gorakh Waman and other senior officials.
The discussions were made on Jackfruit Cluster on PPP mode basis may be developed with processing facility at Kandhamal, Keonjhar and Koraput including other 6 Mission districts like Angul, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, and Sundergarh. It was decided to spare Agricultural/Horticultural Farm to the company for area expansion of Jackfruit in the State if required.
It was also decided to include Padmapur Sub-division of Bargarh district and Patnagarh Sub-division of Balangir district under Jackfruit Mission because of its agro-biodiversity. Exposure visit will be arranged to farmers/FPOs to Ratnagiri areas of Maharastra for better understanding of the business ecosystem of Jackfruit. Focus will be on end to end integration. Odisha based brand in Jackfruit to be developed said by the Deputy Chief Minister.
