Cuttack: In yet another major blow for Archana Nag, who faces allegations of operating a honey-trap racket, the Odisha State Bar Council today suspended her advocate license and initiated disciplinary proceedings against her.

According to Odisha State Bar Council President Sitanshu Mohan Dwivedi, Archana Nag’s license has been suspended as she fraudulently concealed criminal cases during her enrollment.

A press release issued by Dwivedi informed that Archana Nag has been suspended from the legal profession and the decision taken by the council to take disciplinary action against her.

“The details reveal that Archana Nag intentionally concealed the information related to the criminal cases against her and got herself registered as a lawyer on that basis. Later, as per the information received, it was found that in fact, criminal cases under various sections were registered in the name of Archana Nag and they were under trial, but in the prescribed points 14, 15, 16, 17, 20 (b) to be submitted for registration, she mentioned that there is no criminal case against him or that he is not involved in any business promotion,” read the press release.

“The information received so far has revealed that she is the director of two companies. Although there is provision for lawyers to provide information on all these matters in the prescribed form at the time of registration, the person concerned has denied all points and proved that she is a real person herself as a lawyer with the Bar Council by taking refuge in falsehood without providing the necessary information,” it added.

“This is in violation of the Indian Advocates Act, 1961 and she has registered her name with the Bar Council without providing correct information to the Bar Council, which is the highest regulatory body for legal education and the legal profession. Taking these matters seriously, the Bar Council in its general meeting held on 14.09.2025 has decided to suspend the concerned Archana Nag from the legal profession and take appropriate disciplinary action against her,” it informed.

Earlier on September 12, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sealed her bungalow valued at Rs 3.4 crore in Bhubaneswar’s Satya Vihar area in a money laundering case filed against her under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
